Green waste is the best example of why we price by weight. In a flat-rate bin, your featherweight prunings pay the same as someone’s bathroom rubble. With us, they don’t.

The heavy exceptions.
Soil, turf and root balls are the heavyweights of the garden, they're mostly water and dirt. These don’t count as green waste. Tell us if they're in the mix and we'll steer you right before you book.

Questions We Get About Green Waste
What counts as green waste?
Prunings, branches, palm fronds, hedge trimmings, grass clippings, leaves and small shrubs. If it grew in the garden, it’s probably fine.
Can tree trunks and stumps go in?
Yes, as long as you knock the dirt off first. Soil and root-ball dirt are heavy, and they’re what turns a light green waste load into an expensive one, so give the roots a good shake before they go in the bin.
What about soil and turf?
Soil and turf aren’t green waste, so they can’t go in a green waste bin. They’re dense, mostly dirt and water by weight, and they have to be tipped separately in a dedicated soil bin. If your job involves turf, a dug-out garden bed or a pile of fill, give us a call before you book and we’ll talk through your options.
Can I mix green waste with general household junk?
Yes. Just know that a mixed bin is priced as a mixed load, so if you go over the weight allowance, the extra is charged at the higher mixed rate rather than the green waste rate. If it’s a big garden job and the household junk is only a small part of it, you’ll usually do better keeping the bin green-only. Not sure which way to go? What size bin for a full garden makeover?
Bigger than you think. Branches don’t compact, so a proper makeover usually wants a 4m³ to 6m³, and an overgrown block is a 10m³ job. Going up a size costs little on a light load.
How does the weight allowance work?
Every bin includes a set weight in the price, and green waste is light, so most garden jobs stay under and pay nothing extra. Go over and it’s $[XX] per 100kg, and we’ll tell you before we invoice.
How long do I get the bin for?
Most hires include a standard 7-day hire period, plenty of time to work through the garden across a weekend or two. Need longer? Just ask.
